    Parents 60th Wedding Anniversary

(Our family left to right - brother Bill, Me, Dad, Mom, sisters Kathy & Sandi)

    Hail friends,

Have you ever had a time when stuff just keeps happening for no reason? Well, that was my week. Let me summarize it all. And no, I didn't even get to go to Bristol because of it. First off, if you all recall, the week before I ended up breathing in chlorine gas from one of the restrooms at work due to some stupidity of the housekeeping staff, thus leaving work coughing, burning throat and not getting to faire on the Saturday. Well, it gets better this week. Why to me, I have no idea.

Anyway, I did get to go to Bristol a week ago on the Sunday after feeling a lot better from the Fridays chlorine episode. I had a good time and posted my pictures. Well, I went to bed that night and woke up last Monday morning, got out of bed and when my one foot hit the floor, I was in pain. Don't know what I did, but I ended up hobbling on it all week. Then, this last Saturday I headed out with the family to my parents 60th wedding anniversary party which us kids put together in Madison, Wisconsin for them, and figured I would have my nieces husband, who is a foot doctor, look at it. Well, we left at 9:00 am and stopped at a store first, to pick something up. On the way out, I see this little old lady in her 80's coming in. Both her legs were bandaged up and she had a patch on one shoulder like she had been in the hospital recently. As she got closer, I held the auto door open for her. She got about 4 feet from the door and her cane went one way and she fell over like a stiff doll on to the sidewalk, smacking her head on the concrete. I immediately ran out, not even feeling my heel at this point and went to her. I got down and started asking her things to make sure she was conscious and if she hurt anywhere. She said no, but when I picked her head up to sit her up in my arms, blood began spurting out from the side of her head. I yelled for someone to call 911 as I applied pressure to the spot. She said she didn’t want to go, but I told her she was bleeding and had to so she just let me take over. When I removed my hand to see where the blood was coming from, it shot out of her again, so I just kept pressure on it until another person, who happened to be a nurse, came out of the store and asked if she could help. I asked her to take over that duty of applying pressure for the bleeding with a cloth instead. At this time my one hand was covered in blood and it was all down my arm. I then began to sit her up better so she was not so uncomfortable and then the paramedics came. They wrapped her head up since she had gashed her skin above the left eye over a vein. She had also driven to the store, so I offered to drive her car to the hospital for her which I did. Suffice it to say, she is now ok and thanked me for it all. That I guess was my good deed for a while. She needed stitches and then we left her at the hospital to head to the party.

Part way there to Madison, we stopped to something to drink, When we began to leave, my sons drink would not open at all. The top kept spinning but wouldn’t catch to open, so, we went back in to exchange it. We then left and were getting on the expressway, when a big SUV decided to come over into the middle lane at a fast speed just where we were going and almost side swiped us. I happen to see it and grabbed the wheel from my wife and jerk it into the other lane only about 6 inches before our doors would have hit. I was like, what the hell more can happen today? Gosh, never ask that... We get to the party and all is well. My nieces husband looked at my foot and told me I have an Achilles Heel issue, wrapped it up and gave me crutches to use. So, now I am gimping about slowly getting better. The drive home was uneventful, and then about 9:00pm I call a friend from Bristol and find out one of our mutual friends there collapsed during faire with erratic heart issues that afternoon. At this point I just can't believe this crap all happened in one day. Suffice it to say, he is ok now and after holding him at the hospital over night, I heard he went back to Bristol on Sunday and was ok, and it wasn't from the heat. But, my foot would not cooperate like I wanted, so I didn't get to go at all. Instead I got to write all this to everyone. LOL!!

Well, with my foot feeling somewhat better, I am hoping to be able to go full time till the end of Bristol’s run starting this coming weekend August 2/3/08. In the meantime, I am going to keep both eyes open and on the watch for any other crap that I may avoid it. I plead with all the powers that be to let last week be the last of all the happenings. So, that's all it in a nutshell. You just can't make this stuff up. LOL!!! So, stay tuned for anything to follow. Fingers Crossed!!!!! Take care and remember.....
