Queen Catherine, King Edward and Lord Clisto
The Royal Court
Hail everyone,
I finally returned from my journey to the Des Moines Renaissance Faire in Iowa on Sunday night. It was a drive, but well worth it. I had a blast at this little faire. Permanent buildings, great performers, good ale, great prices and all around fun. Queen Catherine and her court do a great job and I was pleased to be a part of their court to help fill in. This was the last weekend for their faire, which normally runs from labor Day weekend for three weekends, but, due to the massive rain the previous weekend, they postponed their last weekend until this past one. The weather was fantastic. Anyway, I just finished my pictures from there, where Romance and Chivalry weekend culminated with the royal wedding between Queen Catherine and the Duke of Somerset, now King. And, since I was in it, I didn't get any shots of it, but everything else I did of what I could. What an awesome time I had learning several dances and doing them with the court for the people. So, if anyone is interested, just follow the link below, then take the Des Moines Faire link from there. Enjoy!!!

Well, the Des Miones Ren Faire has been postponed for this weekend due to the heavy rains they are suppose to get tonight and tomorrow from the darn hurricane. The expected rainfall is between 3 and 5 inches, which will flood a lot of it. I got word this morning just before I was getting ready to leave Milwaukee to drive there from Queen Catherine. They have decided to postpone until next weekend Sept 20th and 21st. I am trying to make arrangements with work to go then instead, so hopefully all wont be lost. I was really excited to go there and meet the court and be a part of it. Keep fingers crossed it will work out. It's just hard with the weekends off from work at the moment, since a week ago a co-worker of mine on the beginning of the week, died from a massive heart attack. He was 55 years old. Thus, his schedule is open and we have to fill it for now. So, I am the one to work it and I am also the only Mon to Fri person 8 hours. So now I am doing his 12 hour shifts and weekends off and on. Anyway, I am really hoping things work out so I can make this faire on the 20th and 21st.
In the meantime, I do hope everyone else is doing well. That's it for now. I will just be hanging out this weekend now. Just remember..
The last week of Bristol was already a week ago on Labor Day Weekend and I have been scrambling to get my pictures done. So much to do and to little time as always, but, I finally finished them for week 9. I was suppose to be in Michigan for faire, but things changed with my friend Lord Ravens vacation and I ended up not able to go this year. Thus going back to Bristol instead. Anyway, I my pictures are now up from a week ago, so, if anyone is interested in seeing them, just follow this
link below, then go to the bottom of that page and click on the
week 9 button.
The weather was unbelievable once again with super low humidity and a
slight breeze. The crowds were large for the last horrah with every show packed and the ale houses backed up. This is a good sign people are still traveling and spending in lieu of the gas prices. As I type all this, I am at a friends house in Minnesota attending the Minnesota Ren Faire. So far on Saturday it has been super and in the low 70's. I have also met up once again with many friends I have not seen since last year, as well as meeting mew ones. And, the King and Queen have been most gracious. And, when I get back, I will post my pictures from this weekend here in Minnie. In the meantime, I look ahead to this following weekend, when I shall be journeying to the Des Moines Renaissance Faire in Iowa and meeting with the good Queen Catherine and her entourage. Ahhh... the faire life is a good thing indeed. So, if anyone is planning on coming out, let me know and we can
try and meet up. Well, that's it again, everyone. And always remember -

( Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Sir Clisto )
Hail, my friends,
Two more weekends have past as I made it to Bristol for both. I had no time to get a blog up about week 7, thus I am posting both weeks 7 and 8 here now. Although there is only one week left, this past weekend was the most fun I have had there in some time. Just going around talking to the kids and telling stories made it worth while for me. There was even on lad that I saw wearing my colors and heraldic charge. I have a picture of us in the photo gallery. It made his day when I asked him to become my squire. Several friends from other faires made the trip to meet up, as well as a few that I got to meet for the first time. Anyway, I also have my pictures up from the past two weekends, so, if anyone is interested in seeing them, just follow this link below, then go to the bottom of that page and click on either the week 7 or 8 buttons.
The weather was beautiful with being only in the low 70's with a slight breeze. The crowds were almost elbow to elbow as these last two weekends are right before the start of school here, and people are getting there for one last HUZZAH!!! I now look forward to this last weekend, since it seems my Michigan plans have now fallen through for this year. This is the first time in many years I am not able to go. It sucks, but what are you going to do? Anyway, I look to get to Bristol for at least one of their last three days over the Labor Day weekend. And, hopefully the weather will stay like last weekend and make it even better. So, if anyone is planning on coming out, let me know and we can try and meet up. Well, that's it for now, my friends. Take care and remember -
