    It's Been a Road!!!!

Wednesday, April 9, 2008, 03:39 PM CST [General]

    Hello my friends,

It has been some time since my last post or even being online until as of late. I am sorry for not replying to the many e-mails, comments left or postings to me in general. This is being rectified and things have been posted. Fear not, for I have not forgotten about my friends, nor have I ignored or blown people off as some may have thought. Sometimes life intervenes and getting on the board, answering e-mail etc. isn’t on ones mind no matter what because of certain things at the moment. For me it was and is healing and emotion in doing so and nothing more. For those that truly understand and never questioned, but were always supportive, thank you. It helps more then you know to heal without the stress.

First off, I had gotten very sick and ended up once again in the hospital, only this time for just about 3 days. My radioactive implants for my cancer treatment are nearing their end and in the process are emitting a little stronger. This has made some of my area down there a little more painful than normal side effects, as well as making me sick. At about the same time I also got an ungodly terrible migraine, one of the likes I have never had in my life which almost had me beating my head against a wall at one point and making me even more nauseous. Not fun on top of the other issue. But, after some good meds, it subsided then my oncologist prescribed something for the other pain. With that, I have been out and feeling better. I have not been dealing with anything but getting better. I am back exercising to lose the weight they wanted me to put on, about 20 pounds, and that has helped stave off some of the side effects. The good news is, from my last full checkup about a month ago, my cancer was shrunk to almost nothing. I go back in on April 25 for a battery of tests to see the latest. As of this month, it is now been 6 months since I had the procedure and 9 months since being diagnosed. Luckily it was small enough and localized and caught early through MY persistence. My Gleason rating is now down as is my PSA level from what it was. I am still more tired than usual, but I deal with it and look ahead day by day as positive as I can. Thanks again to everyone who have continued to stick by me through this with your sincere support and caring. My heart goes out to you all….

Now, since I am really tired of talking and thinking about all this, “FAIRE IS ON THE MENU!!!” Yes, Faire… Rehearsals for the Upper Wisconsin (Medieval) Renaissance Faire have been in full swing. This year is 1347 in history and is the year of THE PLAGUE. We are still discussing how we are cast-wise going to incorporate this due to some factors, but it should be interesting. Next week also begins my personal faire season for 2008, where for just fun as usual I will be journeying down to Ashville, Ohio as I always do for the Ashville Viking Festival. Shopping for garb or accessories for any period is super and cheap. The people are always very friendly and great to enact with. And, they have an actual Viking Longship that is rowed on the local river there. How cool is that? So, depending on some factors with my travel buds, I should be going and already have my reservations.

On one last SAD note, I am not sure most of you are aware that the online group Faire Chasers, run by Lord Diadoto, has been shut down for good. There was a server crash and everything was lost. The backup drive also crashed so even all that info is gone. Nothing was salvageable. Lord D has since put up a notice that he will not be restarting the group and thanks everyone who was on it for making it what it was. The site will be greatly missed.

So, now everyone is up to date on what has been going on. In the meantime, I hope to possibly see many of you at faire or some other events. Faire is and has been a passion of mine for the last 31 years and it makes me feel good. I hope it does the same for all of you, my friends.

    The Forbidden Kingdom

    Attention all Martial Artists!!!

This movie, called The Forbidden Kingdom, comes out next month April 18th and looks to be a really good martial arts flick. Me being a second degree black belt in Kenpo style for years can really appreciate this film when it comes to the more realistic parts as I really did in Jet Li's Fearless. Yes it has fantasy in it, but it is more down to earth. It stars Jet Li and Jackie Chan as rivels. A damn good flick to see these two REAL martial artists go head to head. But it is a lot more. I am really looking forward to this. Check it out in the trailer below within the video section on my Dizzler Player above. Enjoy!!!

    Arn the Knight Templar

Sunday, March 16, 2008, 10:27 PM CST [General]

Arn the Knight Templar, is a new movie that was released in Sweden and is making its way to the USA supposedly in August. Not sure if it will be in theaters or on DVD, or, if it will be in English, but it looks really good similar to Kingdom of Heaven. I hope it is in theaters here. Check out the trailer on my player here in the Video section for Arn.

PS - I have also started dwindeling my friends list down to those who write regularly upon either their own sites as well as reply to posts or comments I have left. It has become greatly taxing with many people in my list, but only a handfull reply or post anything at all to me or are active on their own page. Some I have noticed, have not done anything since just signing up on Renspace. I don't quite see the point of asking for friendships for just that. Anyway, I have gotten down to only a third of what I had as of last night. This is in no offence to anyone personally, but I have had many I have written to in comment form on their pages and have never gotten a reply. Anyway, I am now pretty much down to a managable size. And for those of you who are active and have responded, THANK YOU!!!

    Renspace

Tuesday, March 11, 2008, 01:21 AM CST [General]

Just wanted to share this with everyone. I got a "Renspace Pin" and it is awsome. Made of high quality plastic and etched with the logo. Members of Renspace will be able to purchase one soon. Keep an eye out for details. Nice work Archer!!! Thanks again and for this board for all of us to share. And with that said, I have a lot of healing to do physically and some emotionally. Things are a one day at a time and I have been dealing. Just more tired then anything every day. Thus, I will get on here off and on when I can. Need to rest up for rehearsals for faire again. I will have an update on my health and other things soon. Once again, thanks to everyone for their genuine concern and support. I could not get through all of this without it. You know who you all are. The REAL people who have been there all along. Take care my friends..

    Getting in the Faire Mood!!!

    (Bodiam Castle)

    Camelot

A law was made a distant moon ago here:
July and August cannot be too hot.
And there's a legal limit to the snow here
    In Camelot.
The winter is forbidden till December
And exits March the second on the dot.
By order, summer lingers through September
    In Camelot.

    Camelot! Camelot!
I know it sounds a bit bizarre,
    But in Camelot, Camelot
    That's how conditions are.
The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
    In short, there's simply not
    A more congenial spot
    For happily-ever-aftering than here
    In Camelot.

    Camelot! Camelot!
I know it gives a person pause,
    But in Camelot, Camelot
    Those are the legal laws.
The snow may never slush upon the hillside.
By nine p.m. the moonlight must appear.
    In short, there's simply not
    A more congenial spot
    For happily-ever-aftering than here
    In Camelot.
